Introducing: The kitchen- and forest garden

If you’ve been to the farm in the last couple of months, you will have noticed that the area next to the bread barn is changing. What used to be one acre of grazing land is slowly being transformed into a permaculture inspired kitchen- and forest garden. This exciting new project is the brainchild of our German friend Katrin, who will also be posting in this section.

Katrin and I met a couple of years ago when we both attended the RHS Level 2 horticulture course. At the time, she was a keen gardener with a passion for all things flowery. Then she stumbled across Martin Crawford’s inspirational book ‘Creating a Forest Garden – Working with Nature to Grow Edible Crops.’ It was her first brush with permaculture and as she says, totally got her hooked! Having read extensively on the subject since then, she is now excited to try out some of the principles on the farm. It’ll be a fascinating journey!
